Suppression of fact is a great offence, then what to speak about misrepresentation of the fact! – Part 2

Date: the auspicious day of Nṛsiṃha-caturdaśī, Sunday 11 May 2025

Continuation of the previous subject matter which was published in the Part 1 article of the same.

Again here we want to discuss analytically about the inner meaning of the śloka  (ŚB 7.9.14) under the guidance of our Sri Gaudiya Guru-varga

To

Those Blessed Sarasvat Gauḍīya Vaiṣṇavas all over the world

Dear/Blessed devotees

Daṇḍavat praṇāma to you all. We regret to disturb you to consider the following absolute siddhānta vichar which is naturally going against Śrīla Svami Mahārāj and his comment. Please excuse us, never mind, we have nothing to do with it, because we are always in the neutral platform.

None of our guru-varga never even in dream told about this incident to anyone of us (be it in written form or verbally) that The Prabhupāda ordered devotees to kill the black snake which was found in Śrī Yoga-pīṭha (?), as was claimed by Śrīla Svami Mahārāj, whereas we heard from our guru-varga that round the clock he (The Prabhupāda) was always surrounded by many devotees (specially most of our guru-varga used to stay with him to help him in his sevā 24 hours), then how it was at all possible for Śrīla Svami Mahārāj to point out this unbelievable strange incident about Śrīla Prabhupāda, because he was at home as a gṛhastha devotee at that time. Sometimes by chance he used to meet with Śrīla Prabhupāda occasionally. We heard that he was a medical businessman, who was always busy with his business. Also we heard that he took huge amount of loan from the bank to run his business smoothly.

Now how the following famous anecdote can prove the remarks by Śrīla Svami Mahārāj at all true?

Once upon a time, when Śrīla Caitanya Maṭha was just constructed and established and deity installation was done. Only the deity temple was there and the Avidya Haran Nattya Mandir was almost complete. All around open field and green bushes. But of course harikathā-kīrtana was a daily (nitya) sevā of Śrī Śrī Rādhā-Govinda Gaura Hari there on behalf of Śrīla Prabhupāda. One day evening time (afternoon but almost approaching evening) while harikathā-kīrtana by Śrīla Prabhupāda was going on, suddenly a big snake entered the Avidya Haran Nattya Mandir through the middle passage of both the group of mātājis and pitājis to come in front of Śrīla Prabhupāda’s vyāsāsana to sit there in coiled form to hear hari-kathā. All the audience were very much afraid of the fact, but Śrīla Prabhupāda assured them with full indication of abhayamudrā (by some sort of finger indication of fearlessness). After the hari-kathā was over, then the snake also went away without any disturbance.

Really this is a revolting remark by Śrīla Svami Mahārāj against Śrīla Prabhupāda, because the following ślokas from Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam can prove that he was not at all a mahā-bhāgavata  paramahaṁsa Vaiṣṇava.

bhayaṁ dvitīyābhiniveśataḥ syād

īśād apetasya viparyayo ’smṛtiḥ

tan-māyayāto budha ābhajet taṁ

bhaktyaikayeśaṁ guru-devatātmā (ŚB 11.2.37)

Fear arises when the dual conception is appearing inside heart, because of the absorbing attention to the external world (material world manifested by bhāgavat māyā) the illusory energy of the Lord. Thus, due to aversive mood against the Supreme Lord, the jīva also forgets his own constitutional position as a servant of the Lord. This bewildering, fearful condition is affected by the illusionary energy of the Supreme Lord, which is called māyā. Therefore, those who are really intelligent they should engage themselves in the unalloyed devotional service of the Supreme Lord, under the guidance of a bona fide spiritual master, whom he must accept as his worshipable object and as his very life and soul.

But in practical field we know it very well that Śrīla Prabhupāda was completely fearless at any circumstances. The following ślokas from Śrī Bhakti-rasāmṛta-sindhu about the absolute symptom of a Sad Guru given below which is absolutely applicable for The Prabhupāda—

kṛpāsindhuḥ susampūrṇaḥ sarvasattvopakārakaḥ

niḥspṛhaḥ sarvataḥ siddhaḥ sarvavidyāviśāradaḥ |

sarvasaṃśayasaṃchettā nālaso gurur āhṛtaḥ                                   (Hari-bhakti-vilāsa – 1/45/46)

Such person is called guru who is an ocean of mercy, who feels pain on seeing the unhappiness of others, who is always satisfied (saturated) and who works for the welfare of others, who does not desire sense gratification, who is perfect in all respects, who is expert in all scriptural knowledge, who removes the doubts of his followers and who is not lazy (always busy in serving the Lord).

The above ślokas are absolutely 100% applicable for Śrīla Prabhupāda who was the endless ocean of mercy for all countless jīvas, whereas Śrīla Svami Mahārāj comment cannot stand in that case. Then whom to believe in this case? He who appeared in this material world to deliver countless helpless jīvas out of his endless mercy, how he can indulge in jīva-hiṁsā (moreover what to speak to commit jīva-hiṁsā itself inside Yoga-pīṭha Śrī Mandir where Śrīman Māhaprabhu is present all the time?)—That is the most vital question in front of us at present!

Even we have heard one incident about Śrīla Sanātana Gosvāmīpad, about his endless causeless mercy shown even on a very poisonous scorpion at the time of taking bath in Yamunā someday early in the morning. The incident was like that—while he was taking bath in Yamunā and chanting āhnika mantras, suddenly at that moment one poisonous scorpion fell down in to the water. By watching the helpless condition of the scorpion, Śrīla Sanātana Gosvāmīpad wanted to deliver it from the water by catching the scorpion, but according to the nature of scorpion it expressed anger heavily in the form of biting Śrīla Sanātana Gosāi, but still he was not ready to allow the scorpion to die. Śrīla Prabhupāda being the topmost representative of Śrīla Sanātana Gosāi (I mean Śrī Gaurāṅga Māhaprabhu—who is known as the most munificent merciful incarnation of The Supreme Lord).

Also, you can read in the explanation of Śrīla Svami Mahārāj where he makes a reference to Chanakya Paṇḍita to support his argument in favour of killing cruel creatures. In this regard we like to clarify that Chanakya Paṇḍita, although he was a great scholar, still he cannot have any access into the devotional realm (I mean Bhagavat dharma field), so we cannot consider him an authority in the field of Gauḍīya darśana.

According to the teachings of Śrīla Prabhupāda Bhakti Siddhānta Sarasvatī Gosvāmī Ṭhākura and our Gauḍīya guru-varga,- One should not do any harm to even a tree or creeper or any creature anywhere in this creation of Bhagavān, then what to speak about any jīva-hiṁsā in Śrī Gaura-dhama or Śrī Dham Vṛndāvana. How at all The Prabhupāda can approve jīva-hiṁsā . A mahā-bhāgavata can see his iṣṭa-deva everywhere and in everyone, so how and why Śrīla Svāmī Mahārāja wanted to pass such a motivated remark about The Prabhupāda which can bring about a defame in his (Prabhupāda’s) name— that we cannot understand at all. Perhaps Śrīla Svami Mahārāj forgot about the horrible incident happened at the time of Navadvīpa-dhāma parikramā period before Gaura-pūrṇimā, when Śrīla Prabhupāda wanted to show his absolute forgiveness to those sahajiyās who all started attacking the parikramā party with stones and bricks.

From Śrī Caitanya-caritāmrta, Raya Ramananda Samvada chapter we can find the direct siddhānta vicara from the lotus mouth of Śrīman Mahāprabhu, the Supreme Lord (C.c. Madhya 8. 271-274)—

prabhu kahe, — kṛṣṇe tomāra gāḍha-prema haya

premāra svabhāva ei jāniha niścaya

"Śrīman Mahāprabhu said: 'Be sure that the kind of immense premā you have for Kṛṣṇa, this is the genuine nature of premā (pure kṛṣṇa-premā).'"

mahā-bhāgavata dekhe sthāvara-jaṅgama

tāhāṅ tāhāṅ haya tāṅra śrī-kṛṣṇa-sphuraṇa

"For a mahā-bhāgavata Kṛṣṇa gets manifested in everything he sees here and there— living or inert."

sthāvara-jaṅgama dekhe, nā dekhe tāra mūrti

sarvatra haya nija iṣṭa-deva-sphūrti

"The mahā-bhāgavata certainly does not see the forms of the mobile and immobile things around him. Rather, in everything he immediately can see his iṣṭa-deva getting manifested."

sarva-bhūteṣu yaḥ paśyed bhagavad-bhāvam ātmanaḥ

bhūtāni bhagavaty ātmany eṣa bhāgavatottamaḥ (S.B. 11.2.45)

"An uttama-adhikārī devotee sees the presence of himself and Bhagavān with in all entities and consequently realises the presence of all the entities within himself and Bhagavān."

So, is there any document or any evidence (direct or indirect) in favour of the comment passed by Śrīla Svami Mahārāja?

We have heard from our guru-varga that in the presence of Śrīla Prabhupāda any envious or dangerous creature was bound to change its aggressive mood. The following anecdote can give the evidence that once while speaking hari-kathā as newly built Śrī Caitanya Matha nāṭya-mandira in front of many devotees, but due to lack of space many devotees could not sit or stand inside the nāṭya-mandira, so some of them (devotees) took shelter here and there, also some of them were there outside in the garden to hear the hari-kathā of Śrīla Prabhupāda. But one such devotee who was standing outside in the garden to hear the hari-kathā absorbingly, discovered himself standing with the support of a fat snake body mistakenly as a branch of a tree. But really that was a great strange, that the snake could not bite the devotee. We have heard that the mutual peaceful coexistence of both envious and non-envious creatures is possible at Śrī Vṛndāvana-dhāma (and Śrī Navadvīpa-dhāma). The following śloka from Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam can give the evidence in favour of the siddhānta vichar

yatra naisarga-durvairāḥ

sahāsan nṛ-mṛgādayaḥ

mitrāṇīvājitāvāsa-

druta-ruṭ-tarṣakādikam (S.B. 10.13.60)

"There (in Vṛndāvana), living entities like humans & lion, etc. beasts, who have natural enmity with each other—they live together like friends and this place being the residence of Śrī Kṛṣṇa, so, all anger, greed, etc. flee away from here."

The dearmost eternal associate of The Prabhupāda—Śrīla Bhakti Pramoda Puri Gosvami Mahārāja was not at all ready to kill even a mosquito, then what to speak about his divine Gurudeva—Śrīla Prabhupāda. Bhagavān Śrī Kṛṣṇa said to Śrīla Uddhava Ji Mahārāja, in His advice that, — anybody doing any torture to any jīva means to give pain to me, because i am staying in everybody (or every creature) as Paramātmā or supersoul.

Also, we know from Śrīla Prabhupāda Bhakti Siddhānta Sarasvatī Gosvāmī Ṭhākura Prabhupāda — the topmost paramahaṁsa — that — in a place where aprākṛta hari-kathā-kīrtana is going on there cannot be any problem or danger. Once Śrīla Prabhupāda was invited to speak hari-kathā in the house of some important devotee. There was also a big yajña going on there. Śrīla Prabhupāda was speaking hari-kathā nearby at a separate place. It so happened that the young grandson of the host who in a playing mood suddenly fell down into the fire. When the message of the incident went to Śrīla Prabhupāda, he said with full placidity that since hari-kathā was going on there could be no danger. It really happened just like this: that boy came out of the fire without any injury. From that moment, everybody present realized in their hearts that at the place where aprākṛta hari-kathā is going on there can be no problems.

It is our honest request to you all that please try to consider those above authentic scriptural evidences represented by us without any unnecessary violence to accept the absolute siddhānta vichar.

Gaura Hari Hari Bol
