No Enmity, Only Solution – Part 12

An unique darśanik vichar (or analytical observation) about the apparent breakup of the Gauḍīya Maṭha


Gauḍīya Goṣṭhī Śrī Śrīla Bhakti Siddhānta Sarasvatī Gosvāmī Ṭhākura Prabhupāda said that: “From superiority complex one can endeavour to insult (or criticise) others.” As an advice he further said that: “This is my advice to you all: try to search out your own faults to rectify yourself, don’t try to find faults with others.” It is quite natural that bonded souls are always busy to find faults with others, they cannot see their own faults. Those who are real sādhu they never criticise others. However some groups are always busy to criticise Gauḍīya Maṭha and devotees of Gauḍīya Maṭha. Huge amount of money-power or opulences can make them blind, so in that case they cannot see Guru-Vaiṣṇava and their divine svarūpa, that is why The Prabhupāda used to say that: “To collect huge amount of money is not our target, if we do so, then our audacity can develop inside us to avoid or insult Guru-Vaiṣṇava.


For the seekers of Gaurasundar selected ones, we must quote the following reference given by Śrīla Prabhupāda:


Once, being asked by a young man in Delhi, “Why do you claim that Sri Gaudiya Math is the only way to God? Is there no other way at all?” Srila Prabhupad, the illustrious Founder and Acarya of Sri Caitanya Math and its world-wide affiliated branches Sri Gaudiya Maths, replied, “Do you think that there is any other pathway to God, than the association of those whom Godhead Himself has selected for His Service?”


"Śrī Gauḍīya Maṭha cannot have and actually does not have anything in common with those, who duplicitously join Gauḍīya Maṭha with a motive to misuse Divine Knowledge for the service of their own selfish ends. Feigned dīkṣā and obtainment of Divine Knowledge are never one and the same. Śrī Caitanya and His sincere Devotees are eternally present in Śrī Gauḍīya Maṭha. All those owlish persons who are incapable of seeing the light are called māyāvadis, karmis and wayward nondevotees.”(from the letter by Śrīla Prabhupāda Bhakti Siddhānta Sarasvatī, October 20, 1920)


So here we can see that Śrīla Prabhupāda has pointed out very clearly the eternal existence of Śrī Gauḍīya Maṭha and those sincere sevāks of Gauḍīya Maṭha. To ignore him and his siddhānta vichar means guru-avagna (nama-aparādha). In this context Śrīla Prabhupāda used to say that: “Slightest deviation from the track of Guru-pādapadma can ultimately throw you away from hari bhajana.” So, it is very clear that by criticising Gauḍīya Maṭha and the eternal sincere sevāks of Gauḍīya Maṭha one can never survive in hari bhajana, he can surely fall down.

 

In this next letter excerpts, published under the name of Śrīla Svami Mahārāja, who used to be intentionally addressed as Prabhupada by his followers, we can read an unexplainable mood.

 

THEY WILL BE ENVIOUS


Śrīla Prabhupāda’s Letter to Yamuna 11/18/70:

“Regarding the Gauḍīya Maṭha, our position has nothing to do with them. They cannot do anything and if somebody does something, they will be envious. That is the nature of third-class men.”


THEY HAVE ALL BECOME SUDRAS


Śrīla Prabhupāda’s Letter to Niranjana 5/21/73:

“Our big, big godbrothers in India, they could not preach Lord Gauranga’s name all over India. They are simply inclined to criticize me, that my students call me Prabhupāda. They could not do anything practical and tangible. They are satisfied with a temple and a few disciples begging alms for the maintenance of the temple.


“So, we can understand that they have all become sudras. How can they have interest in Bhagavad-gītā. Although some of them have been born in brāhmaṇa families, but by quality are all śūdrās.”


THIS IS MY INSTRUCTION TO YOU ALL


Śrīla Prabhupāda’s Letter to Rupanuga 4/28/74:

“In the latter days of my Guru Mahārāja he was very disgusted. Actually, he left this world earlier, otherwise he would have continued to live for more years. Still, he requested his disciples to form a strong Governing body for preaching the cult of Caitanya Mahāprabhu. He never recommended anyone to be ācārya of the Gauḍīya Maṭha. But Srila Bhakti Rakshak Śrīdhara Mahārāja is responsible for disobeying this order of Guru Mahārāja, and he and others who are already dead unnecessarily thought that there must be one ācārya. If Guru Mahārāja could have seen someone who was qualified at that time to be ācārya he would have mentioned. Because on the night before he passed away, he talked of so many things, but never mentioned an ācārya. His idea was talked of so many things, but never mentioned an ācārya. His idea was ācārya was not to be nominated amongst the governing body. He said openly you make a GBC and conduct the mission. So, his idea was amongst the members of GBC who would come out successful and self-effulgent ācārya would be automatically selected. So Bhakti Rakshak Śrīdhara Mahārāja and his two associate gentlemen unauthorizedly selected one ācārya and later it proved a failure. The result is now everyone is claiming to be ācārya even though they may be kaniṣṭhā adhikārī with no ability to preach. In some of the camps the ācārya is being changed three times a year. Therefore, we may not commit the same mistake in our ISKCON camp. Actually, amongst my Godbrothers no one is qualified to become ācārya. So, it is better not to mix with my Godbrothers very intimately because instead of inspiring our students and disciples they may sometimes pollute them. This attempt was made previously by them, especially Madhava Mahārāja and Tirtha Mahārāja and Bon Mahārāja but somehow or other I saved the situation. This is going on. We shall be very careful about them and not mix with them. This is my instruction to you all. They cannot help us in our movement, but they are very competent to harm our natural progress. So, we must be very careful about them.”


The Prabhupāda in a room conversation meeting with Rabindranath Tagore (the novel laureate) on being asked by him about sending a representative of Gauḍīya Maṭha in Western countries for the perfect preaching of ‘Caitanya Vani’, at first he rejected the proposal, then Śrīla Prabhupāda started speaking heart touching hari-kathā (siddhānta vichar) in front of him. Then after hearing this kind of very sensitive Vaikuṇṭha Vani, Rabindranath Tagore was bound to say: “A preacher like you can come out successful anytime anywhere.” Then Śrīla Prabhupāda replied that: “I will send such representatives as good as me.” Then where from the question of criticising those Gauḍīya mission’s divine pracharaks can come?  That is our questioning in front of your society.


THEY ARE NOT EVEN ORDINARY HUMAN BEING


Śrīla Prabhupāda’s Room Conversation with a Reporter in Johannesburg 10/16/75:

“kṛṣṇa-śakti vinā nahe kṛṣṇa-nāma pracara: ‘Without Kṛṣṇa’s special power of attorney, nobody can preach His name.’ Caitanya-caritāmṛta. So, these rascals, Godbrothers, they are envious that … What he has written? Bon Mahārāja. Just see what kind of men they are. They are not even ordinary human being. They are envious of me, and what to speak of make a judgment by estimation? They’re envious. Enviousness is immediately disqualification of Vaiṣṇava, immediate. He is not a human being. Paramo nirmatsarāṇāṁ satāṁ. This Bhagavatam is meant for the person who is completely not envious. That is the beginning. Why a Vaiṣṇava should be envious for anyone? Everyone is working according to his karma. He is trying to rectify him, that ‘Be out of these clutches of karma. You come to bhakti.’ Why he should be envious? ‘vāñchā-kalpatarubhyaś ca kṛpā-sindhubhya eva ca’. A Vaiṣṇava should be like ocean of mercy to reclaim the fallen souls. That is Vaiṣṇava’s qualification. So Vaiṣṇava should be envious? Just see. So, these persons, they are not even human being, what to speak of Vaiṣṇava. Vaiṣṇava cannot be envious. Vaiṣṇava should be: ‘Oh, my Lord’s name is being broadcast. He is getting, giving so much service to make Kṛṣṇa known.’ That man has appreciated, that ‘All these spiritual leaders, they are deriding. You are the only man … You are … It enthuses us, give us more encouragement, that you are keeping intact love of Kṛṣṇa.’ This is an appreciation. Why he should be envious? He should be, rather, very much enthused that ‘This single man is keeping Kṛṣṇa all over the world.’ And everyone is deriding. Even Gandhi is killing Kṛṣṇa. Dr. Radhakṛṣṇan is killing. Their only business is to kill Kṛṣṇa. He is also doing that, our, this Bon Mahārāja. He never speaks of Kṛṣṇa. His rascal, that Institute of Indian Philosophy, nobody goes to [pass] urine there. We see practically. And our temple is always filled up, five hundred men. And he is trying for the last forty years. He is simply planning: ‘This will be playground. This will be this ground. This will be this ground.’ And it is becoming jungle. Still, he is so envious, black snake. So, one circular letter should be issued to all our centres, that ‘Any Bon Mahārāja or anyone, his representative, should not be received.’ They are envious. Yes. Quoting that. We have got several complaints like that. Satsvarūpa also complained. Sometimes our order was cancelled by Bon Mahārāja’s propaganda.”


This was published as a comment of Śrīla Svami Mahārāja against our śuddha Sarasvat Gauḍīya guru-varga and Gaudiya Maṭha, but the Supreme Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa Caitanya Mahāprabhu wanted to establish the following siddhānta vichar:


Śrīmān Mahāprabhu said to Śrīla Sanātana Gosvāmīpad (Śrī Caitanya-caritāmṛta, Sanātana śikṣā) that: “The destruction of Yadu Vamsa or the abduction of those Maharishis and the disappearance līlā of Bhagavan Śrī Kṛṣṇa are all arranged by Yogamaya just like an illusion, they are not at all true.” Similarly, your conception about the apparent division of Gauḍīya mission was also done by Yogamaya to deceive envious people and to favour the massive preaching of Śrī Gaura Vani all over the world. This was the last advice of Śrīla Prabhupāda in front of his surrendered sincere disciples:


“All of you should preach the teachings of Śrī Rūpa Raghunātha’s messages with full enthusiasm. Our ultimate goal is to become the dust particle unto the Lotus feet of those rūpanugas. All of you should stand unitedly and amicably under the guidance of the same original ‘āśraya vigraha’ for the aprākṛta sense gratification of that advaya jñāna tattva.”


But externally it appears that all of those sincere inclined disciples of Śrīla Prabhupāda were not able to follow his instructions, however we should realise that all their individual preaching efforts under the strict guidance of Gauḍīya Goṣṭhī Pati Śrīla Prabhupāda was the arrangement of Yogamaya for the massive preaching of Gaura Vani all over the world. Common people always pass some offensive remarks on this particular issue. 


The original ‘āśraya vigraha’ means Śrīmatī Rādhārāṇī, the source of all āśraya tattvas.


Jagadguru Śrīla Prabhupāda wanted to advice all his inclined sincere disciples to remain under the same guidance of “āśraya vigraha” and he empowered them to remain united and to work amicably with the single idealism of preaching the message of Rūpa-Raghunātha.


Narrow minded people, those who are full of anarthas, always find opportunities to criticise Śrī Gauḍīya Maṭha and those pure devotees serving Gauḍīya Maṭha with absolute dedication for the unusual incident happened even after the disappearance līlā of Śrīla Prabhupāda. They may pass the remark that none of those disciples of Śrīla Prabhupāda could follow his instructions, but know it is for sure that they all are just deprived by the illusionary energy of the Supreme Lord. If they cannot realize that: all happened by the desire of the Supreme Lord, for the best. Narrow minded people are unable to comprehend that many such seemingly unfavourable incidents are the Lord’s way of accomplishing a big task. The following śloka is from Śrī Caitanya-bhāgavata, Antya līlā 4.126:


pṛthivīte āche yata nagarādi grāma

sarvatra pracāra haibe mora nāma         


Which means that: “All over the world in all different villages and towns everywhere my Name will be preached.”


Most of the so-called Gauḍīya pracharaks wanted to deserve their personal credit for their preaching work done all over the world, because they can never think that everything is done by the desire of The Prabhupāda. All big Gauḍīya ācāryas like Śrīla Bhakti Daitya Madhava Gosvāmī Mahārāja, Śrīla Bhakti Pramode Puri Gosvāmī Mahārāja, Śrīla Bhakti Rakshak Śrīdhar Deva Gosvāmī, Śrīla Bhakti Saranga Gosvāmī Mahārāja, Śrīla Bhakti Prajnana Kesava Gosvāmī Mahārāja or Śrīla Bhakti Hridoy Van Gosvāmī Mahārāja etc. all of them have expressed the same darśanik vichar (which is called vaikuṇṭha darśana) as mentioned before.


Although externally the precepts of one pure ācārya may appear different from those of another pure ācārya (as much as the methods through which they express those precepts in their conduct), they are in fact non-different and completely harmonious. This is called vaikuṇṭha darśana. All of our pure Sarasvat Gauḍīya guru-varga including our śikṣā-guru: Śrīla Bhakti Vedanta Vaman Gosvāmī Mahārāja, Śrīla Bhakti Vijnana Bharati Mahārāja or Śrīla Bhakti Vallabha Tirtha Gosvāmī Mahārāja wanted to establish the same siddhānta vichar, but offenders cannot accept this vaikuṇṭha vichar, because they aim to establish their own supremacy.


In reality whatever has transpired has been in accordance with the desire of Śrīla Prabhupāda and all has happened with the objective of preserving both the above-mentioned words of Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu and the previously mentioned statements of Prabhupāda, who is Śrīmān Mahāprabhu’s non-different manifestation. In order to deliver the whole world, Śrīla Prabhupāda invested his own intimate disciples, who are capable of delivering the entire world, with the power of his mercy and thus inspired them to stay separately and preach. He did not wish to limit his disciples, who were themselves qualified to be ācāryas, by ordering them to stay at one place together and thus restrict their capacity for and efficiency in preaching. Today by the miraculous efforts of Śrīla Prabhupāda’s disciples, preaching word has reached every corner of the earth, and many people are trying to accept the teachings of Śrīmān Mahāprabhu, thus fulfilling Śrīmān Mahāprabhus prophecy.


If Śrīla Prabhupāda’s disciples were devoid of his mercy potency (kṛpā śakti), if they were not under the guidance of the same Śrīla Prabhupāda and if they were full of anarthas, then surely it would not have been possible for them to preach the teachings of Śrīmān Mahāprabhu all over the world on such a great scale. Unfortunately, people who are unaware of the Lords actual desire become trapped in the quicksand of aparādha by praising one person and criticizing other and thus fall down from the spiritual path. All those sincere and loyal disciples of Śrīla Prabhupāda have followed his instructions to the best of their ability without any duplicity. The honest effort of preaching of those sincere and loyal disciples of Śrīla Prabhupāda has led many fortunate living entities to become attracted to the teachings of Śrīmān Mahāprabhu represented by the super-human all attractive personality of Jagadguru Paramahaṁsa Ācāryavarya Śrīla Bhakti Siddhānta Sarasvatī Gosvāmī Ṭhākura Prabhupāda the great personal associate of Śrīmān Mahāprabhu. And in this way so many bonded souls were saved by them.
