No Enmity, Only Solution – Part 7

By sampradāya-saṁrakṣaka Śrī Śyām Dās Babajī Mahārāj

Date: 15.07.2025

The background of this painful protest book

yasya deve parā bhaktir

yathā deve tathā gurau

tasyaite kathitā hy arthāḥ

prakāśante mahātmanaḥ

(Śvetāśvatara Upaniṣad 6.23)

Only he who is having parā bhakti (absolute bhakti) unto the Lotus feet of the Supreme Lord and the same unto the Lotus feet of Gurupadapadma inside his heart the secret inner meaning of śāstra can get revealed by the advice of Sad-Guru (Vaiṣṇava).

Gauḍīya Goṣṭhī Pati Śrī Śrīla Bhakti Siddhānta Sarasvatī Gosvāmī Ṭhākura Prabhupāda said that: “Though the absolute knowledge (or the Absolute Truth), which is always beyond our sensual capacity, descends here in this material world (Jagat) by the help of aprākṛta śabda-brahma, still, this same knowledge is non-different from the Supreme Lord Himself.” We also know the following śloka from Katha Upaniṣad 1.2.23:

nāyam ātmā pravacanena labhyo

na medhayā na bahunā śrutena

yam evaiṣa vṛṇute tena labhyas

tasyaiṣa ātmā vivṛṇute tanūṁ svām

(Katha Upaniṣad 1.2.23)

The Supreme Soul (attma tattva) cannot be realized by discussing the conclusions of the Vedic scriptures, nor can He be known by great intelligence or learning. Only he whom the Supreme Soul accept can realize Him. Unto him the Lord reveals His own personal form.

So, we know that Paramātmā can expose His own svarūpa in front of His genuine devotee or bhakta. Without Bhagavat kṛpā nobody can witness that very secret atma tattva. So, to achieve Bhagavat kṛpā the only possible way is to serve Sad-guru with full submission. The same thing Gopinath ācārya wanted to say to Sārvabhauma Bhaṭṭācārya.

Īśvarera kṛpā-leśa nāhika tomāte

ataeva īśvara-tattva nā pāra jānite

Gopīnātha Ācārya started saying to Sārvabhauma Bhaṭṭācārya that: “That even a pinch of kripa of Isvara is not there with you, that is why you cannot realize Isvara tattva at all.

yadyapi Jagadguru tumi — śāstra-jñānavān

pṛthivīte nāhi paṇḍita tomāra samāna

īśvarera kṛpā-leśa nāhika tomāte

ataeva īśvara-tattva nā pāra jānite

(C.c. Madhya 6.85-86)

Gopīnātha Ācārya then started saying to Sārvabhauma Bhaṭṭācārya: You are a great scholar and Guru of many disciples. Indeed, there is no other scholar like you on this earth. Nonetheless, only because you are bereft of even a pinch of the Lord’s mercy, you cannot realize Isvara tattva.

tomāra nāhika doṣa, śāstre ei kahe

pāṇḍityādye īśvara-tattva-jñāna kabhu nahe’

(C.c. Madhya 6.87)

It is not your fault; it is the verdict of the scriptures, that by the help of dry scriptural knowledge (by the help of panditya or by the help of your great proficiency), nobody never can realize Isvara tattva

We can see the same absolute siddhānta vichar pronounced by the great Gaura pārṣada Śrīnivas Ācārya, who has written:

balavān adara yasya na syat guru padamboje

srutair api sat sastroi kṛṣṇe bhaktir na jayate

So long as the disciple cannot grow strong love and affinity unto the Lotus Feet of sadguru

till then only śāstra-jñāna (scriptural knowledge) cannot give him kṛṣṇa bhakti at all.

So one-pointed bhakti yoga unto the lotus feet of Sadguru is the only keyway to get entry into pure devotional field. This is confirmed in all sat śāstras, there is no doubt about it.

Now one question may arise: what is guru bhakti in true sense?

To carry out perfectly the order of sadguru, who is non-different from the Supreme Lord, and to satisfy him is known as guru bhakti.

From Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam we know the direct advice of Śrī Kṛṣṇa to Uddhava Ji Mahārāja:

ācāryaṁ māṁ vijānīyān

navamanyeta karhicit

na martya-buddhyāsūyeta

sarva-deva-mayo guruḥ

(ŚB 11.17.27)

One should know the ācārya as I Myself and never disrespect him in any way. One should not envy him, thinking about him as an ordinary man, because Sri Guru has the potency of all the demigods.

So those who are pure niṣkapaṭa sevākas of Śrī Gurudeva (Sad Guru), who are trying their best to satisfy him, they also can be treated as non-different from Śrī Gurudeva. That is why it is written in Śrī Caitanya-caritāmṛta that:

prabhu kahe, — bhaṭṭācārya, karaha vicāra

gurura kiṅkara haya mānya se āmāra

(C.c. Madhya 10.142)

Śrī Kṛṣṇa Caitanya Mahāprabhu then started speaking to Sārvabhauma Bhaṭṭācārya: Try to consider this point, that the servant of guru is always respectable for Me.

Who is actual guru sevāk and who is not can never be detected by any bonded soul who is full of anarthas and full of mastarya (jealousy). Only the external uniform (vea) of brahmacāri vea or sannyāsa vea or even ācārya vea, and external positions should not be considered a sign of spiritual advancement. Because all external exhibition of guru sevā can be done in many different ways, for example: doing personal sevā of Gurudeva; vani sevā like preaching all over the world; making so many disciples; establishing many temples or publishing several books etc., all those may not bring any real benefit in the life of that particular disciple (who thinking himself as a great important personality) if genuine guru niṣṭhā or sampradāya niṣṭhā not present inside his heart. Surely genuine guru bhakti does not imply any enmity with those real guru sevāks or any enmity with Sarasvat Gauḍīya Vaiṣṇava sampradāya as a whole.

Please allow me to reinforce that in the year of 2011, 19th March Śrī Gaura Pūrṇimā tithi we, on behalf of the whole Sarasvat Gauḍīya Vaiṣṇava saṅga and Visva Vaiṣṇava Raj Saba, already published one very humble protest book entitled “Satrauta noi Samadhan” in Bengali by the mercy of Śrīla Bhakti Siddhānta Sarasvatī Gosvāmī Ṭhākura Prabhupāda to draw the attention of your GBC members and BBT to solve this highly sensitive issue of vaiṣṇava aparādha done by ISKCON society in the form of publishing different books or writings and speeches on different occasions. But alas! Your society did not even think it necessary to give any response to our humble prayer. So, after a long time (more than 15 years) we are bound to write another book named “No enmity, only solution”, to save the whole Gauḍīya Vaiṣṇava community all over the world from misunderstanding  Śrī Gauḍīya Maṭha and Gauḍīya sādhus. The huge amount of mental agony felt and expressed by our Sarasvat Gauḍīya Vaiṣṇava saṅga and Visva Vaiṣṇava Raj Sabhā can never go in vain.

Some unexpected untruthful allegations disclosed publicly by the followers of Śrīla Svami Mahārāja (who is addressed here as Prabhupada) about Gauḍīya Maṭha and our guru-varga:

THESE PEOPLE ARE ENVIOUS

Śrīla Prabhupāda’s Room Conversation in Vrindaban 5/24/77:

“If somebody thinks, ‘Oh, here is a snake with jewel. Let me embrace him, no, no, no, it is very ferocious. Even it is jewel there, it is ferocious. Similarly, these people are envious. Although they have become so-called Vaiṣṇava, they are ferocious. They have not acquired the qualification of Vaiṣṇava, simply they are vesopojivinah, by dress.”

“[Kṛṣṇa Consciousness] is simple for the simple, but it is very hard for the crooked.” (Initiation lecture by Śrīla Prabhupāda, Boston 12/26/69)

THEY ARE DRESSING LIKE VAIṢṆAVA, AND THEY ARE SO ENVIOUS

Śrīla Prabhupāda’s Room Conversation in Bombay 1/8/77:

“There are similarly men also. Unnecessarily they are envious, offensive, unnecessary. They cannot tolerate others’ opulence. Just like our Godbrothers. They are envious. What I have done to them? I am doing my business, trying to serve my Guru Mahārāja. But they are envious because I am so opulent. I have got so much fame, so many influence, so much influence all over the world. Everyone is praising me about… That is ignorance. And this is regrettable because they are posing themselves as Vaiṣṇava. Ordinary man can do that, but they are dressing like Vaiṣṇava, and they are so envious. That Tirtha Mahārāja, unnecessarily he was envious, whole life fighting, fighting, fighting in the court and died. Simply planning.”

So these rascals, Godbrothers, they are envious that . . . what he has written, Bon Mahārāja? Just see what kind of men they are. They are not even ordinary human being. They are envious of me, and what to speak of make a judgment by estimation? They're envious. Enviousness is immediately disqualification of Vaiṣṇava. Immediate. He is not a human being. Paramo nirmatsarāṇāṁ satāṁ (SB 1.1.2). This Bhāgavatam is meant for the person who is completely not envious. That is the beginning. Why a Vaiṣṇava should be envious for anyone? Everyone is working according to his karma. He is trying to rectify him that, "Be out of these clutches of karma. You come to bhakti." Why he should be envious? Vāñchā-kalpatarubhyaś ca kṛpā-sindhubhya eva ca. A Vaiṣṇava should be like ocean of mercy to reclaim the fallen souls. That is Vaiṣṇava's qualification. So Vaiṣṇava should be envious? Just see.

So these persons, they are not even human being, what to speak of Vaiṣṇava. Vaiṣṇava cannot be envious. Vaiṣṇava should be, "Oh, my Lord's name is being broadcast. He is getting . . . giving so much service to make Kṛṣṇa known." Just like this man has appreciated, that "All these spiritual leaders, they are deriding. You are the only man . . . you are . . . it enthuses us, give us more encouragement, that you are keeping intact love of Kṛṣṇa." This is an appreciation. Why he should be envious? He should be, rather, very much enthused that, "This single man is keeping Kṛṣṇa all over the world." And everyone is deriding. Even Gandhi is killing Kṛṣṇa. Dr. Radhakrishnan is killing. Their only business is to kill Kṛṣṇa. He is also doing that, our this Bon Mahārāja. He never speaks of Kṛṣṇa. His rascal, that Institute of Indian Philosophy, nobody goes to urine there. We see practically. And our temple is always filled up, five hundred men. And he is trying for the last forty years. He is simply planning, "This will be playground. This will be this ground. This will be this ground." And it is becoming jungle. Still, he is so envious, black snake. So one circular letter should be issued to all our center that, "Any . . . Bon Mahārāja or anyone, his representative, should not be received." They are envious. Yes. Quoting that. We have got several complaints like that. Satsvarūpa also complained, sometimes our order was cancelled by Bon Mahārāja's propaganda.

Here Srila Svami Maharaj criticize Gaudiya Math as a whole and try to explain his new rule of men and women living in the same ashram:

So practically the Gaudiya Math people are envious of the Hare Krishna Movement people, the International Society for Krishna Consciousness, because we are strictly following Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, whereas the Gaudiya Math people are sitting idle, enjoying the occupation of different buildings constructed by the late Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakur, and they are spoiling their time in the Calcutta High Court to keep all these building illegally under their control. So far as ecstasy is concerned, there are two divisions of ecstasy. One is called bhava and the other is called mahabhava. The bhava ecstasy can be achieved by any ordinary devotee who is following the principles, namely, 1) Faith, 2) Association of devotees, 3) Initiation in devotional service, 4) Giving up unwanted things, 5) Conviction, 6) Taste, 7) Attachment, and 8) Ecstasy, which is the prior stage to love of Godhead, and is certainly meant for only very, very highly advanced devotees. So the ecstasy shown by the devotees carrying on the Sankirtan movement all over the world is certainly on the stage of bhava. The mahabhava ecstasy is purely on the platform of love of Godhead, we do not claim the mahabhava stage of the highly advanced devotees, but the Gaudiya Math people, they have not even faith in the words [of] their Spiritual Mater, so How can they understand even the bhava stage? Rather they are interested in viswya, material things. At present we can see that the so-called chief of the Gaudiya Math institution is engaged in High Court litigation, of how to usurp the whole property. So is this the sign of strictly following Chaitanya Mahaprabhu? Does this give license to criticize others who are following Mahaprabhu by actually preaching in the field? It is very much regrettable. What they could not do, because others are doing it, they are simply finding fault. It is a great offense, and they shall have to suffer for this offending vaisnavas.

Regarding women, because the Gaudiya Math people are not practical, neither they have got experience of foreign countries, therefore they are saying all this nonsense. In foreign countries, especially in the west, boys and girls intermingle very freely, that is the society’s culture. It is not very practical to prohibit such mixing for this reason, therefore our students must get themselves married if they desire connection with women. All the devotees seen by Swami Yati Maharaj in Madras are married couples. Chaitanya Mahaprabhu never prohibited the association of married couples. Adwaita was a family man, Nityananda was a family man, Gadadhar was a family man, Srivas was a family man. Lord Chaitanya himself was a family man. Chaitanya Mahaprabhu preached that every living entity is the eternal servant of Krishna. He never said that women were prohibited to dance on the street – is there any evidence? Can the Gaudiya Math people quote anything? On the contrary, at the end of last February, during the birthdate celebrations of Lord Chaitanya in Mayapur, 99% of the visitors to the Gaudiya Math were women, mostly widows. And we observed that the swamis of Sri Chaitanya Math led them in procession and danced with them, and their exploits in this connection are well known and everyone has seen.
