No Enmity, Only Solution – Part 9

By sampradāya-saṁrakṣaka Śrī Śyām Dās Babajī Mahārāj

Date: 16.07.2025

The root cause of the tremendous dissatisfaction and strong anguish of the whole Sarasvat Gauḍīya Vaiṣṇava saṅga and Visva Vaiṣṇava Raja Saba accumulated over the years

Gauḍīya Goṣṭhī Pati Śrī Śrīla Bhakti Siddhānta Sarasvatī Gosvāmī Ṭhākura Prabhupāda said that— “From the feeling of personal superiority, the mood of ignorance and the desire to ignore and insult others can arise.” So surely there cannot be any ‘tṛṇād api sunīcena’ bhāva. No ‘tṛṇād api sunīcena bhāvameans complete failure in Gaura bhajana (Gauḍīya bhajana). If somebody cannot even follow the third śloka of Śikṣāstakam then how he can become a world class preacher? The Prabhupāda used to say that: “Before going to preaching field, first of all one should preach in front of himself.

He further used to say: “It is my advice to you all: do not try to find faults with others, rather try to find your personal faults and to rectify them.” This is quite natural, that bonded souls cannot see personal faults, they are always busy to find faults with others. Actually, our fault-finding mission can make us blind and cannot allow us to see a real Guru-Vaiṣṇava. The Prabhupāda used to say: “To not lose patience (to not become angry) in the case of humiliation (insult) of Guru-Vaiṣṇava is called abhakti, which can cause fall down.” From Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam 4th Canto we can see the furious comment of Sati Devi when Vaiṣṇava Raj Shambhu was ignored and insulted by Dakṣa Prajāpati during Dakṣa-yajña period. Sati Devi wanted to reject even her own father (Dakṣa) when he committed great offence unto the lotus feet of Vaiṣṇava Raj Shambhu. She even wanted to leave her own body to cut the link with father from whom she took birth.

Please allow me to quote such important verses once more:

doṣān pareṣāṁ hi guṇeṣu sādhavo

gṛhṇanti kecin na bhavādṛśo dvija

guṇāṁś ca phalgūn bahulī-kariṣṇavo

mahattamās teṣv avidad bhavān agham                         (ŚB 4.4.12)

Oh dwija! Some sādhu puruṣas accept bad qualities in others as good qualities, but a jealous personality like you find fault in other’s good qualities; those who discriminate between good and bad appropriately are intermediate devotees, but those who accept very insignificant qualities in others as great, they are high class Paramahaṁsa.

nāścaryam etad yad asatsu sarvadā

mahad-vinindā kuṇapātma-vādiṣu

serṣyaṁ mahāpūruṣa-pāda-pāṁsubhir

nirasta-tejaḥsu tad eva śobhanam                                      (ŚB 4.4.13)

It is not astonishing or surprising for persons who have accepted the transient material body as the self to indulge always in deriding great souls. Such envy on the part of materialistic persons is very good because that is the way they fall down. They are diminished by the dust of the feet of great personalities.

Though those Mahājanas bear any such criticism (or insult) by any materialistic people, still the dust particles from the Lotus feet of those great Mahā Puruṣas cannot bear that criticism, so can destroy the effulgence of the criticizer. It is natural for an asat to develop enmity with a Mahāt, because in this way they can get the appropriate punishment.

karṇau pidhāya nirayād yad akalpa īśe

dharmāvitary asṛṇibhir nṛbhir asyamāne

chindyāt prasahya ruśatīm asatīṁ prabhuś cej

jihvām asūn api tato visṛjet sa dharmaḥ                                   (ŚB 4.4.17)

Sati Devi continued: If one hears from the mouth of a very cruel dangerous person blasphemes about the master and controller of the whole religious principles, then one should block his ears and go away if unable to punish him. But if one is able to kill, then he should by force cut out the blasphemer’s tongue and kill the offender, and after that one should give up his own life.

This is the dharma regarding the perfect attitude towards devotional service (prabhu bhakti).

atas tavotpannam idaṁ kalevaraṁ

na dhārayiṣye śiti-kaṇṭha-garhiṇaḥ

jagdhasya mohād dhi viśuddhim andhaso

jugupsitasyoddharaṇaṁ pracakṣate                                           (ŚB 4.4.18)

Therefore, I shall no longer bear this unworthy body, which I have received from you, who have blasphemed Lord Śiva. By chance, if someone has taken such a forbidden dirty food unaware which is contaminated, then the best treatment is to vomit it out.

All those great paṇḍits speak in the same way about this unique solution. Even if Śaṅkara Śambhu himself would commit any vaiṣṇava aparādha, he would surely have to undergo the same treatment. Śrīla Vṛndāvana das Ṭhākura Mahāshaya wrote this exact siddhānta vichar in the Caitanya-bhāgavata.

As we mentioned before, Gauḍīya Goṣṭhī Pati Śrī Śrīla Bhakti Siddhānta Sarasvatī Gosvāmī Ṭhākura Prabhupāda Paramahaṁsa Jagadguru also expressed impatience (angry mood) when he heard some dirty remark by some so-called paṇḍa against Śrīla Raghunath Das Gosvāmī saying that he took birth in a low cast at Śrī Dham Vṛndāvana in Rādhā-kuṇḍa. After hearing this Prabhupāda was so sorry that he even wanted to leave body by avoiding taking prasādanna jal (prasādaṁ and water).

As an effective Gauḍīya Vaiṣṇava ācārya this was his most fundamental duty: to protect and preserve the dignity of our viśuddha Gauḍīya guru-varga. Śrīla Prabhupāda used to say that: “The only duty of an ācārya is to give full protection to our siddhānta vani vaibhava.” Again, Śrīla Prabhupāda used to say that: “Gauḍīya bhaktas never deserve any credit for any speciality they have nor for any successful achievement in their life. All credits they like to attribute to the original source (akarsthān).”

At the same time, Śrīla Prabhupāda also said “We Gauḍīyas always have some specialities”—this also was the vichar of Śrīla Prabhupāda. What he wanted to mean was that there are speciality regarding sevā and siddhānta vichar. He repeatedly used to say: “False sādhus should be brought into notice (or wrong achar-acaran and wrong siddhānta vichar must be rectified by the help of strong protest).” To honour Kamsa as a maternal uncle of Kṛṣṇa is just foolishness, nothing else. Those strict followers of śrauta panthā never like to go into any compromise with sahajiyās, materialistic people or offenders (aparādhi). The most vital symptom of a genuine sādhu must be known to us all – to avoid confusion and doubt. A real sādhu must have strong faith in his Guru pādapadma and he should have sampradāik niṣṭhā, without which he can never be treated as a real sādhu, then what to speak about those foolish ācāryas, those who are completely against Gauḍīya Maṭha and our Gauḍīya guru-varga. By guru kṛpā if someone is successful in preaching field, then how could false ego make him fall down? The main symptom of Vaiṣṇavi pratiṣṭhā is ‘tṛṇād api sunīcena’ bhāva. That means to give honour to others without any expectation of personal pratiṣṭhā in return. Unknowingly many people accepted ‘X’ Vasudeva and ‘Y’ Vidyavinod as their guru (śikṣā guru or dīkṣāguru or vartma pradarshak guru), but later on it was discovered they were against Gauḍīya Maṭha and Śrīla Prabhupāda, so in that case: who would be so foolish to accept them anymore?

Anyway, it is surely not the duty of an effective ācārya to keep you all (world-wide aspiring devotees) in darkness or to make you all blind by giving misinformation in the form of hari-kathās and writings. At the same time, a half-truth is more and more dangerous than complete lie, because people will be in great confusion about such facts. Like in the case of Śaṅkara Acārya, who was in guise of a Vedic cultural sādhu, wanted to misguide the whole world by violating the Vedic injunctions in a very tricky way. Most of the people could not imagine even in dream that he could be a māyāvadi. Similarly, in the guise of Gauḍīya Maṭha āśritā (who has taken shelter of) sādhu if someone like to cheat the whole world by hiding the actual message of The Prabhupāda, then surely, he is a demon.

Śrīla Saccidananda Bhaktivinod Ṭhākura identifies himself as a pet dog of Guru-Vaiṣṇavas and he was always busy to protect and preserve the absolute interest of Guru-Vaiṣṇavas or Gauḍīya sampradāya as a whole. If some disciples of Śrīla Prabhupāda like to avoid or ignore him and his instructions or like to avoid Gauḍīya Maṭha anugatya, I mean if they like to avoid all the books or writings and lectures (hari-kathā) published by Gauḍīya Maṭha, then how it is possible for them to act as international pracharak? That is the most vital question rising in front of all aspiring devotees.

We can remember the previous life history of Kavi Kalidas, the renounced writer of Sanskrit Kaviya Granthas, who was previously known as foolish number one. He was discovered by some paṇḍit cutting the same branch of a big tree, a branch where he himself was sitting on. So if some fools would like to deny or avoid the original link with the mother from whom they took birth, then we can conclude that they are ungrateful demon. Similarly, being a Gauḍīya Maṭha devotee, if someone like to deny or avoid the original link with the Gauḍīya Maṭha or Sarasvat Gauḍīya Vaiṣṇava sampradāya then he should be sent to mental asylum for careful treatment.

In this next letter excerpts, published under the name of Śrīla Svami Mahārāja, who used to be addressed as Prabhupada by his followers, we can read an unexplainable mood:

THIS IS MY INSTRUCTION TO YOU ALL

ŚrīlaPrabhupāda’s Letter to Rūpanuga 4/28/74:

“In the latter days of my Guru Mahārāja he was very disgusted. Actually, he left this world earlier, otherwise he would have continued to live for more years. Still, he requested his disciples to form a strong Governing body for preaching the cult of Caitanya Mahāprabhu. He never recommended anyone to be ācārya of the Gauḍīya Maṭha. But Srila Bhakti Rakshak Śrīdhara Mahārāja is responsible for disobeying this order of Guru Mahārāja, and he and others who are already dead unnecessarily thought that there must be one ācārya. If Guru Mahārāja could have seen someone who was qualified at that time to be ācārya he would have mentioned. Because on the night before he passed away, he talked of so many things, but never mentioned an ācārya. His idea was talked of so many things, but never mentioned an ācārya. His idea was ācārya was not to be nominated amongst the governing body. He said openly you make a GBC and conduct the mission. So, his idea was amongst the members of GBC who would come out successful and self-effulgent ācārya would be automatically selected. So Srila Bhakti Rakshak Śrīdhara Mahārāja and his two associate gentlemen unauthorizedly selected one ācārya and later it proved to be a failure. The result is now everyone is claiming to be ācārya even though they may be kaniṣṭhā adhikārī with no ability to preach. In some of the camps the ācārya is being changed three times a year. Therefore, we may not commit the same mistake in our ISKCON camp. Actually, amongst my Godbrothers no one is qualified to become ācārya. So, it is better not to mix with my Godbrothers very intimately because instead of inspiring our students and disciples they may sometimes pollute them. This attempt was made previously by them, especially Madhava Mahārāja and Tirtha Mahārāja and Bon Mahārāja but somehow or other I saved the situation. This is going on. We shall be very careful about them and not mix with them. This is my instruction to you all. They cannot help us in our movement, but they are very competent to harm our natural progress. So, we must be very careful about them.”

GAUDIYA MATHA BOOKS SHOULD NOT BE CIRCULATED IN OUR SOCIETY

Śrīla Prabhupāda’s Letter to Śukadeva 11/14/73:

“Regarding the Gauḍīya Maṭha books being circulated there, who is distributing? Who is sending these books? The Gauḍīya Maṭha does not sell our books, why we should sell their books. Who has introduced these books? Let me know. These books should not at all be circulated in our Society. Bhakti Vilas Tirtha is very much antagonistic to our society and he has no clear conception of devotional service. He is contaminated. Anyway, who has introduced these books? You say that you would read only one book if that was all that I had written, so you teach others to do like that. You have very good determination.”
