All glories to Śrī Śrī Guru & Gaurāṅga

Preface of the book

“No Enmity, Only Solutions – Part 2”

(The only purpose for why Bhakti Siddhānta Vāṇī appears as Narasiṁha-mūrti is to protect the devotees of the Lord and the dignity of the sampradāya as a whole)

By Sampradāya-saṁrakṣaka Śrī Śyām Dās Baba Mahārāj

Date: 26.12.2025

Gaudiya Gosthi Pati Śrī Śrīla Prabhupāda Bhakti Siddhānta Sarasvatī Paramahaṁsa Jagad Guru used to say— “If vāṇī-vaibhava is protected then everything is protected.” He also used to say— “Slightest deviation from the track of Guru-Vaiṣṇava can ultimately throw us away from Hari-bhajana.”

Usually this was the system set by Śrīman Mahāprabhu that Śrī Svarūpa Dāmodara Gosvāmī must first check any writing in the form of essay or novel or drama etc. written by somebody to show to Śrīman Mahāprabhu. Then if at all approved by Svarūpa Dāmodara Gosvāmī, then it was the system to forward those things to Śrīman Mahāprabhu because Śrīman Mahāprabhu cannot bear any rasābhāsa and siddhānta-virodha done by anybody. We know very well from Śrī Caitanya-caritāmṛta that—

’rasābhāsa’ haya yadi ‘siddhānta-virodha’

sahite nā pāre prabhu, mane haya krodha     (C.c. Antya-Līlā 5/97)

“If there was a hint that transcendental mellows overlapped in a manner contrary to the principles of the bhakti cult, Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu would not tolerate it and would become very angry.”

Any wrong siddhānta-vicāra we cannot expect from the lotus mouth of any pure devotee. We must try to understand this most basic point. We cannot expect any wrong siddhānta from any sad-guru. Any sad-guru in his whole life can never speak any wrong siddhānta-vicāra, because his harikathā is coming from that transcendental aprakṛta jagat to appear on his tongue to propagate the divine message in this material world. Harikathā is coming from there — the aprakṛta jagat — and a śuddha Guru-Vaiṣṇava can revive that transcendental śabda-brahma. It seems that those śuddha Guru-Vaiṣṇava having one kind of divine antenna by the help of which they are always connected to that transcendental plane beyond this material time, space, and matter. If they are even slightly disconnected, they feel like a fish out of water.”

Regarding any matter of Vaiṣṇava aparādha, or Vaiṣṇava etiquette or any deviation from sampradāyika siddhānta-vicāra, Śrīman Mahāprabhu would become furious like a lion — expressing His most fearful Nṛsiṁha-mūrti. Just a few examples are given below for your kind information.

Please remember how Śrīman Mahāprabhu became furious like a lion due to the offence committed by Devānanda Paṇḍita against the great Gaura Pārṣada Śrīvāsa Ṭhākura. This pastime is a clear indication that as soon as Vaiṣṇava aparādha occurs, Śrīman Mahāprabhu Himself and all His followers become angry like a lion to protect His near and dear ones. Śrīla Prabhupāda Bhakti Siddhānta Sarasvatī Ṭhākura — the topmost associate of Śrīman Mahāprabhu — expressed this in the following way— “To remain silent while Guru-Vaiṣṇavas are being insulted is in itself a specific kind of dangerous offence which can cause downfall from the spiritual path. To lose patience (to become angry) while witnessing humiliation of Guru-Vaiṣṇavas is indeed bhakti.”

Another very famous and extremely important example of Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu's strictness in the way of upholding devotional principles (ācāraṇa-ādarśa) is the incident regarding Choṭa Haridāsa. This kind of transgression indulged by Choṭa Haridāsa was against the principles laid down in śāstra regarding absolute Vaiṣṇava etiquette. This was a very clear indication that Śrīman Mahāprabhu never wanted to allow any deviation from the proper Vaiṣṇava etiquette. None of our Gauḍīya guru-varga wanted to make any compromise with māyā. Only those sahajiyās can do like that. One day Śrīla Gaura Kiśora dāsa Bābājī Mahārāja came to Svānanda Sukhaḍa-kuñja in front of Śrīla Saccidānanda Bhakti Vinoda Ṭhākura with a joking mood to speak out about all the nonsense siddhānta-vicāra projected by those sahajiyā bābājīs about Śrīman Mahāprabhu and His punishment given to Choṭa Haridāsa for his mental vyabhicāra to Śrīla Saccidānanda Bhakti Vinoda Ṭhākura. He started speaking that— “What so serious offence done by Choṭa Haridāsa so that Mahāprabhu wanted to give him such a very serious punishment? This is nothing but too much.” That was their siddhānta, but we are not sahajiyās. So very carefully we should always keep this point in our mind in the way of our perfect Hari-bhajana and we always like to stick to those siddhānta-vicāras shown by Śrīman Mahāprabhu and our Gauḍīya guru-varga.

Also we can remember the famous example when Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu became very angry like Nṛsiṁha Mūrti in front of Cāṇḍa Kāzī who tried his best to stop the harināma-saṅkīrtana party to do harināma-saṅkīrtana loudly. By the help of this pastime Śrīman Mahāprabhu wanted to give warning to all those antagonists those who are against Śrī Gauḍīya Maṭha and Gauḍīya guru-varga — those who dare to try to stop the flow of absolutely pure hari-kathā-kīrtana done by any viśuddha guru-Vaiṣṇava. Śrīla Prabhupāda Bhakti Siddhānta Sarasvatī Ṭhākura used to say that— “There is nothing more dangerous then to try to control pure Guru-Vaiṣṇavas.”

Again another such example which is also like a milestone in our devotional life (for all Gauḍīya devotees). That was the līlā shown by Śrīman Mahāprabhu about how different way (strictly) He wanted to control the skyscraper false ego of Vallabhācārya. Śrīla Vallabhācārya who wanted to project himself as the best commentator of Śrīmad Bhāgavatam by expressing his negligence towards Śrīla Śrīdhara Svāmīpāda and his commentary on Śrīmad Bhāgavatam to chastise him. Śrīman Mahāprabhu further told him that who is going to ignore her husband, that lady should be treated as a pros.

prabhu hāsi’ kahe, — “svāmī nā māne yei jana

veśyāra bhitare tāre kariye gaṇana”                                      (CC Antya 7.115)

"Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu smilingly replied, 'One who does not accept the svāmī [husband] as an authority I consider a prostitute.'"

So ultimately when he could realize about his great false ego already expressed in front of Śrīman Mahāprabhu to project himself as a great commentator of Śrīmad Bhāgavatam, then he was bound to take refuge unto the lotus feet of Śrīman Mahāprabhu by confessing his own aparādha. Then Śrīman Mahāprabhu started giving advice in a very sweet mood that— “A mahā-bhāgavata can never express false ego. If you at all can write your commentary on Śrīmad Bhāgavatam as a great paṇḍita under the guidance of Śrīla Śrīdhara Svāmīpāda then no problem can arise and everybody can accept.”

We know the following śloka from Skanda Purāṇa:

sa mṛgyaḥ śreyasāṁ hetuḥ

panthāḥ santāpa- varjitaḥ

anavāpta śramam pūrve

yena santaḥ pratasthire          (from Skanda Purāṇa)

"Only by following the path upon which previous great personalities (Mahājanas) have easily traversed can we find ultimate auspiciousness and freedom from all suffering."

The pathway followed (or shown) by our previous Mahājanas should be pursued by us as a trouble-free and a certain way towards success, which can give us complete maṅgal. Śrīla Saccidānanda Bhakti Vinoda Ṭhākura has written there in his commentary that newly discovered pathway is absurd, not possible at all.

From Mahābhārata we know the following śloka, also quoted by Śrīla Kṛṣṇa dāsa Kavirāja:

tarko ’pratiṣṭhaḥ śrutayo vibhinnā

nāsāv ṛṣir yasya mataṁ na bhinnam

dharmasya tattvaṁ nihitaṁ guhāyāṁ

mahājano yena gataḥ sa panthāḥ               (C.c. Madhya 17.186)

"Śrī Kṛṣṇa Caitanya Mahāprabhu said that, ‘Dry arguments are inconclusive. A great personality whose opinion does not differ from others is not considered a great sage. Simply by studying the Vedas, which are variegated, one cannot come to the right path by which religious principles are understood. The secret truth of religious principles is hidden in the heart of a niṣkapaṭa self-realized person. Consequently, as the śāstras confirm, one should accept whatever progressive path our previous Mahājanas advocated.'"

This evergreen quotation from Mahābhārata can advocate that although it seems different from what everybody else in society is saying, to follow the exact śrauta panthā as was shown by our previous sampradāik Mahājanas is the right unique choice. Śrīla Bhakti Vinoda Ṭhākura has written that: “The pathway is the same, a new one is not possible. We must follow the most elevated śrauta panthā. Those who all are full of false ego and busy to collect lābha-pūjā-pratiṣṭhā, only try to show or prove their personal speciality. Nowadays such new new panthās (pathways) appear to be discovered by different so-called ācāryas and automatically such new new discovered pathways will be spiritually destroyed together with those so-called ācāryas and their followers”. Śrīla Saccidānanda Bhakti Vinoda Ṭhākura has written further that— “Those new pathway founders always try to avoid or ignore the śrauta panthā shown by our previous Mahājanas to search out different ways (panthās), at the same time they ignore or dishonor the exclusive siddhānta-vicāras of previous Mahājanas, which are known as śrauta panthā. They never take care to realize the divine teachings of Śrī Kṛṣṇa Caitanya Mahāprabhu given to the whole inhabitants of the world (jagat vāsī), on the contrary they just speak the opposite of what was taught by Him. In this way a massive amount of amaṅgal comes down to us. But they never stop to think about this. All the real teachings of Śrīmān Mahāprabhu (which are non-different from Himself) are our heart and soul.” (Upadeśāmṛta, commentary)

In this way all those countless documents can prove that it is only our own misfortune when we misunderstand pure Guru-Vaiṣṇava—especially when they become like Narasiṁha-mūrti in front of us. The only purpose for which Bhakti Siddhānta Vāṇī appears as Narasiṁha-mūrti is to protect the devotees of the Lord and the divine dignity of the sampradāya as a whole. So if we misunderstand or even try to reject that aspect of Bhakti Siddhānta Vāṇī, then who can be more unfortunate than us?

As per The Prabhupāda as if we all are admitted into Gauḍīya hospital like serious patients. To avoid speaking ‘unpleasant truth’ in the name of politeness is the same as refusing to treat a patient simply because he can scream during surgery. What appears harsh externally is actually mercy and what appears as pleasing apparently is nothing else than betrayal or cheating.

Gauḍīya Goṣṭhī-pati Śrī Śrīla Prabhupāda Bhakti Siddhānta Sarasvatī Paramahaṁsa Jagad Guru and all his actual followers are always ready to tear apart each kind of apa-siddhānta, rasābhāsa or any other form of adulteration of that Absolute Truth. The only reason for why we cannot accept them is that they are niṣkapaṭa and we are kapaṭa. They want to give us absolute maṅgala, but we like to arrange amaṅgala in our life.

For those who are really sincere and niṣkapaṭa, only they can realize (or maybe one day can realize) that there is only one way open before us to get out of this fearful dangerous material saṁsāra. Now the point is that to run behind a mirage in search of water is nothing but māyā (illusion), but to follow The Prabhupāda in toto is the best way for us to reach the absolute goal.

With painful heart The Prabhupāda used to say— “Most possibly I have given tension to many of you. Most of you might have thought about me that I am your enemy, because I was obliged to speak the absolute truth to engage you all in unalloyed Hari-bhajan for the absolute benefit in the way of Hari-bhajan. I was bound to put you all in tension for your absolute benefit. I hope that those who are lucky enough among you all can surely understand this point today or tomorrow or in some life. I wanted to engage you all in unalloyed devotional service, so you misunderstood me.”
